The message we carry goes beyond the rooms of recovery, affecting everything we do.

What a difference our service efforts make!  If we doubt this, we can just imagine what the world would be like if no one bothered to be of service to others.  Our work serves humanity.

The actions we undertake in each of the steps bring more and more recovery to each area of our lives.  And prayer keeps us connected to our Higher Power.  Together, action and prayer keep us well-grounded in recovery.

Narcotics Anonymous has worked for so many addicts because it is a carefully designed program of action and prayer.

Wishing doesn’t work in recovery; this isn’t a program of magic.  If wishes cured addiction, we all would have been well long ago!  What does give us relief in recovery is action and prayer.

Every month we send an email with updated Minnesota meeting lists and news about upcoming events to hundreds of chemical dependency professionals. Many of them use our Bridging the Gap program which matches newcomers to NA member temporary contacts. The temporary contact helps the newcomer feel welcome their first few meetings providing a bridge to their new life in recovery. We received the following note from one of those professionals.

Message from a professional with the Department of Corrections:

"Thank you so much for the monthly meeting list. I printed several copies to give to the offenders upon their release. I also want to let you know that you make my job a lot easier by providing me with the information that you send me.  Also, your temporary contact program has been a life saver. What a wonderful thing.  Keep up the good work, because that is what provides the people in prison HOPE that life without drugs and alcohol is possible!! Thanks again."
